Eyes Forward: A Century of Vision Service. A Future of Access for All.
For more than a century, Lions have answered Helen Keller’s call to
become “Knights of the Blind,” championing vision care, preventing
blindness, and bringing hope to communities worldwide.
Helen Keller Challenge 2.0 honored that remarkable legacy while
inspiring California Lions to carry the mission into its next century of
service.
What began as a statewide vision service challenge grew into something
even greater — the creation of California Lions first accessible service
project team, now carried forward through the California Lions for
Access Committee.
This evolution reflects a powerful commitment: making Lions service,
resources, and opportunities more accessible so that everyone has the
opportunity to participate, contribute, and make a difference.
The Centennial celebration is over… The Legacy Lives On!
Helen Keller Challenge 2.0 resources remain available for Lions Clubs to
explore, adopt, and adapt. From vision screenings and eyeglass recycling to
community awareness and inclusive service activities, these tools continue
to inspire projects celebrating the next century of Lions vision service. Eyes Forward! Explore the resources, build on the legacy, and help shape
a future where vision service and accessibility bring more people together.
