Multiple District 4 California Lions

NOTICE!

STUDENT SPEAKERS CONTEST DIRECTIVES

Due to the directives being placed on the citizenship of the US the Student Speakers Committee and the Executive Committee of the Council of Governors have come up with the following rule adjustments and suggestions for the successful completion of the current Student Speakers Contests occurring throughout the state.
We understand the concerns and are taking every precaution to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 without completely cancelling the 2020 Student Speakers Contest.
Each District has the authority to cancel or continue with the contest.

DIRECTIVES:
  1. Institute a Social Distancing Limited Audience for your contests.  (For example-students are to have only 1 representative with them during the contest) The possibility for doing an online presentation is possible as long as the medium is not broadcast out to the rest of the state. (For example-using a Go To Meeting or Skype.  Facebook Live will not qualify as that is open to everyone.)
  2. Double up jobs – Tellers can be Timers and Door Guards so you are limiting the number of people attendance.
  3. Utilize the Minimum number of judges (3). In the event the chair is having difficulty acquiring willing outside participation of judges, youmay utilize a Lion that does not have a contestant participating in the contest.
  4. Extension of Deadlines  • Zone Contest must be completed by April 12, 2020 • Region Contest must be completed by April 20, 2020 • District Contest must be completed by May 9, 2020
  5. Permission - Students participating will have to have a signed permission slip from their parents approving their participation. (Included with these directives)
  6. Each chair will make the determination of when and where the contests will be held using these provisions to the best of their ability.

Thank you for your support and cooperation during this challenging time.
